One of Simon's classes was ¡®grammar' for intermediate level. This class used ¡®Focus on Grammar' as a textbook. The every unit starts with reading section, which makes Ss involve in the grammar focus or point.


First of all, the T elicited the contents of the article from the pictures or title without looking at the real text and let Ss read the article. And after then the T checked the difficult words that Ss faced on. And the T taught the notes of grammar step by step. While teaching each point, the T let Ss make a sentence using that they were studying at and the T made Ss present their sentences, which they've just made. So if the Ss didn't understand the grammar point, they couldn't make any sentences. As a result, the Ss should concentrate on studying and wake up during the class. Frequently, the Ss also had a chance to make a short dialogue using grammar points with their classmates. After T's explanation about grammar, Ss were supposed to solve the questions in the textbook. Sometimes, the T prepared activities that offered the chance to practice the grammar that they've just learned and talk each other. T tried hard to make the class interactive.


There were three Korean women, two Japanese(one is female and the other is male), two Chinese men and one Taiwanese woman in this class. They were pretty close each other. The age range of this class was from 1 to years old and the average of age of this class was 4 years old. And all of them are international students.


Two Korean women, Kate and Kathy, were really good at grammar, and their work(answers) were always outstanding in this class. Especially, Kathy's speaking was very fluent, she was pretty much proud of herself and she kept asking something all the time. Whenever she asked some questions, those questions were that I wanted to know before. So I was really attentive when she asked some questions. Normally, I sat bedside her so she often asked some questions about English to me, but I wasn't sure about the answers. She gave me a lot of challenges in many ways. For example, she is so energetic so that she made the class alive, Moreover, I wanted to learn her attitude about studying English, I mean, she usually kept curiosity about English so she was always ready to get something from the outside of her.


Two Chinese men often skipped the class and they were not good at listening so that when my teacher gave some tasks, they did them a little differently from T's instructions(directions). But my T usually encouraged them.


And the Japanese guy was really funny, for example, whenever he presented his answers, he spoke like a real situation and his voice was interesting. I think he has a good sense of humor. So I was always waiting for his talking.


All of the Ss studied hard in this class because they thought ¡®grammar' is very important for basic element of English. And most of them studied English for the better job life in the future.


Even though this class was grammar class, there were lots of chances to speak each other. And T made Ss involve in a specific situation of grammar points so that the Ss could understand the grammar points better. This class was like a conversation class in my point of view.The T tried to give the same chance to speak out for the every S.


In addition, this class has a discipline about late arrivals of the class because half of Ss were always late for class. So whenever the Ss weren't on time, they should pay one dollar for penalty but everyone didn't care about this discipline.


I like this class because the Ss were so friendly, they were eager to study English and there were nice attitudes to help each other like between friends.So I would like to make my future grammar class like this class, I mean, there are plenty of interactions between the Ss and T and nice atmosphere for studying English. T gives a lot of praises to the Ss so that they can be encouraged all the time.
