Redmond married Francine Arthur, a student at Arizona State who was a part-time employee at the Arizona State Athletic Department.The reason for marriage was because Arthur had given Redmond a cell phone, which he used to put the bill at $400.00 and they took a trip together to Las Vegas.Redmond has said that the relationship is platonic.Arthur did not see it as that, "The purpose of the (Las Vegas) trip was love and romance." The relationship did not work out and Redmond did file for divorce.Since the NCAA restricts student athletes so much, they must make crazy decisions such as this to try to protect themselves.

There is a way for students to get paid without any harm coming to the universities that would be positive and beneficial to both the players and the schools.What the universities can do is take anywhere from 5% to 40% of the profits and distribute it evenly among student athletes.That would definitely benefit the students.They would know that they are getting what they have contributed to.Here's the catch, though.In order to receive the money, the student athlete must graduate.That would give an incentive to the athletes to work towards their degree.The graduation rate would increase, which in turn would reflect well on the coaches who are able to graduate their players.Not only that, but the level of enthusiasm and competition among intercollegiate sports would increase as the motivation for staying in school to play sports increases.The players that do not leave early are going to be the best players, and their not graduating would result in not being compensated, which in turn would hurt them.It works out well for everyone involved.
In the last year in college athletics, there have been many suspensions given to many student athletes.Most of them ranging from an athlete accepting something from somebody.Most of these suspensions could have been avoided if the NCAA had just taken a student athlete's situation into consideration.The athletes are just like the rest of us.If given the chance to better themselves and their situations, they would do it.The NCAA does not allow that, The NCAA needs to take care of the players, and the players will definitely do the same.
