ARTI INSTITUE OF CHICAGO

Landscape with the Ruins of Castle of England

The color usage, odd balance, and setting of the painting compel the viewer to experience a mixture of feelings. The picture is very dark and gloomy especially with looming overhead clouds. The weather seems to parallel the castle's broken stature. The singular remaining tower stands prominent in the skyline above the rolling hills and trees, yet it is still crumbling. There are subtle things, like the shepherd and flock, and the house in the distance, those add to its overall effect. You are drawn in. The artist leaves just enough of the structure so that you can imagine what the castle once was.

The Old Temple

Even though the piece is entitled after the main building that is presented, it seems that the people and their separate actions are the main focus. Even though the people are small in size comparison to the temple, the people are more modern in contrast to the temple which seems to be more old-fashioned. The artist uses color to show the age of the temple. In order to concentrate on the temple, the viewer must view the piece from a distance. After seeing from a distance, the viewer will notice the broken pillars, hole in the ceiling, and statues that seem to need much repair. Even with all these repelling details there still seems to be much balance.

The Fountains

This painting, like the above, has a subtle blend of modernity and relic. The arches and the sculptures are ancient. Yet the people are modern. The balance of color is obvious in the way the fountains are portrayed. Not like the Old Temple the piece allows the viewers to concentrate solely on the fountains at a close distance.

Armida Abandoned by Rinaldo

The background colors are somewhat light and subtle. This allows for the bright colors of the main characters to shine through and be emphasized. The colors are very rich and very much in balance. The most color is present in Rinaldo, who seems to be the main character. Within him there seems to be a struggle. The two soldiers are urging him to the boat, and although he seems inclined, he is still held back. Armida is woefully pleading with him to stay. Her exposed thigh is good-looking, and it seems that Rinaldo is concentrating on her thigh rather than her. Even though Rinaldo is being urged to depart, it is obvious his focus is on Armida's thigh. Since the focus is upon Armida and Rinaldo they are portrayed in the brightest colors.

The Resurrection

Storytelling seems to be essential to the development of this work. The distress of the soldiers and the triumph of Christ over the soldiers is the main part of the story. The movement of the painting seems to be outward toward the viewer. Also, a very subtle action that may be passed by is the action of the angel. The angel seems to be pointing at Christ in a sign of warning and informative. He seems to be saying Christ is the way and don't reject him as the common people did. The whole work seems to portray the splendor of Christ. Overall, this painting seems very real.

The Assumption

There seems to be much movement in this piece. However, it's in unity upward. The common people are looking up at the Virgin. The angels are looking at Mary and even Mary is looking up. In addition, to all of this, the Virgin is standing on top of the moon. As for color, there seems to be an almost symmetrical balance. There is also a heavenly light that shows forth on the Virgin. The use of balance in the coloring captures the viewer and allows the viewer to then notice and observe the other important details.

Saint Martin and the Beggar

The greater part of the painting simply is Saint Martin and the Beggar. The deep blue clouds provide contrast for the white coat of Saint Martin's horse. The bits of light that pierce through the clouds are strategically placed around the head and shoulders of St. Martin. All these things serve to draw in the viewer. The viewer sees how generous St. Martin is and the appreciation of the beggar. St. Martin's act of sharing his robe with the beggar portrays the heart of St. Martin. However, the beggar seems to show a weird amount of strength in the presentation of his legs. As a matter of fact, the piece is contains a lot of "leg". All of the legs from the horse to the beggar seem to be particularly strong. The beggar is thankful, and looks at St. Martin with admiration and wonder. While St. Martin is almost indifferent, yet still graceful, he kindly looks down on the beggar.

Salome with the Head o John the Baptist

The colors in this painting are very dark. The amount of light that is present serves to emphasize key features. The boy is struggling with the immense head of John the Baptist. Again, the head of John gives off a light. The head of John, however, is still monstrous and insipid. This feeling is augmented by the fact that Salome seems almost indifferent, but satisfied. She is finally able to view the outcome of her actions. The light in the rooms that seems to have no originating point indicates a Divine presence.

The Head of Saint John the Baptist brought before Herod

The main point of the painting is of course the head of John of the Baptist being brought to King Herod. All the faces are concentrated toward this point. Even the man who is exiting has his head turned half away to see the action. From the faces of the people involved it is clear how disgusted they are. The view can see this and is inclined to feel the same way. However the viewer is only inclined. The painting does not totally lack perspective, but it is clear that not all the elements are proportional. Light is radiating from the head of John the Baptist which indicates the heavenly spirit present in John.

Saint John the Baptist Entering the Wilderness

In the piece appear two Johns. One John seems to be at the beginning of a path, and the other seems to be entering the wilderness. Again, John has a halo like light shining from his head. This again points to John's blessed state. The colors seem to get darker as he comes nearer to the wilderness. The largest furthest mountain is also the darkest in color. The rocks of the wilderness are pointed and rough. This painting lacks some perspective. Although most aspects are done with lines, in both places John appears the same size. This guarantees that in the piece John is the main concentration. This non-variation of size places much attention on John. The colors used to represent John and those to represent the wilderness show the view of the danger that is before him, but they also show that he will prevail.

di Paolo vs. Baroque

The Baroque is large and almost engulfs the viewer. There is only one event upon which the viewer may focus; Salome and John the Baptist's head. Perspective is present throughout the painting. It, as is typical of Baroque art, is striking and dramatic. The apathetic expression of Salome, the surprised face of the onlooker, and the grotesque head of John all depict the same point. The use of light, again, adds to the effect. Unlike the Sienese, the colors are dark, poignant. Yet still the effect is the same; the viewer is drawn in. The feelings brought forth from this painting are much stronger and more powerful. Thus, the ultimate goal of the art is achieved.

The most striking difference between these two paintings is how they deal with the presentation of the head of John the Baptist. In the Sienese painting, the entire group is implicated. The entire group feels remorse. However, in the Baroque only Salome is implicated. The viewer is only shown her reaction and the reaction of a girl to contrast. These differences are probably due to the individual purpose of each painting. The paintings of Giovanni di Paolo and Guido Reni deal with the same subject matter, but are incredibly different. The differences indicate the different artistic movements to which the paintings belong.

The di Paolo painting is from the artistic movement knows as the Sienese Renaissance. Art, in this period, had a different purpose than in the Baroque. This art was usually commissioned by private citizens as a means of showing wealth and power. Baroque art, the period which Reni emerged, was used by the Catholic church to spiritualize the common man. Although the paintings are separate the both contain similarities.

I am Irish, yet I am not.It is in my blood, and in my heritage, but not in my heart.Supposedly, a person's culture is known by various observations. Ethnicity can be told by physical appearance, such as skin hue, hair color, or build. One's religion, last name, or dance will express their ethnicity.Though this may be true, it is not always the case.

I am from an Irish ancestry. My father's side is full-blooded Irish. However, my looks would not be evidence for this.I do not possess the traits that are allegedly distinct in all Irish. I don't have red hair or pale, freckled skin.I don't have a short temper, and I am not Catholic. In fact, by observing my behavior, it would be assumed that I came from a Native American or German heritage. This assumption would be absolutely correct.

Ethnicity is a choice rather than a destiny.By experience, ethnicity is created.Beliefs, family, and surroundings are a basis for shaping your culture.Though I am Irish, I chose not to accept it as part of my way of life.I chose to express myself through different cultures.Growing up on an Indian reservation in South Dakota, I learned from the Native Americans. This culture has had a remarkable impact on my life. From Indian tacos to pow-wows and costumes, I received the full experience of the culture.Growing up in such a place was extremely fascinating.

Many factors from their culture fashioned part of who I am today. The greatest impact was not being able to attend preschool.Preschool was for Native American children only.Being a white child, this was a disturbing situation.Going into kindergarten, I felt I was behind all the other children in academics.I felt very isolated. Also, my class consisted of several Native Americans and two white children, myself included. This made me feel excluded. However, I learned a great deal from my Native American friends.I am not a prejudice person, and that particular characteristic came from being around other ethnicities throughout my childhood. I don't criticize or judge others, because all cultures are extremely different.Although certain behaviors may seem peculiar to one culture, they are common in others.

Dear Brutus,

Hey, how's it been, haven't talked to you in awhile? I've heard about Caesar and how people want him to become king. But also some people want him dead including Cassius.I know that since you hang around him that he is starting to influence your thinking about your dear friend Caesar. You may be confused about what to do but there are many reasons why your friend Caesar would make a great ruler for Rome.

First, Caesar is a very popular person with the people of Rome.People may think that is Caesar becomes ruler he will take advantage of the power and become too popular. But what seems to slip past people is that the citizens of Rome decide who is the ruler and who isn't.As soon as they realize that Caesar is becoming too powerful they will work just as hard to get him out as they did getting him in.I know Cassius has overlooked that point.

Second, think back to all of the times that you needed help, advice, or a favor.Who helped you without any questions? I know that after all these years of friendship you know that Caesar would work his hardest to make others get what they want.Caesar is a very strong an courageous man who would only look to become king so he could find ways to benefit Rome and Rome only not himself.

Finally, do you honestly think that Cassius is making the right decision? I know that you talk to Cassius a lot but is he just trying to influence you so he can use you as a sort of bait to kill Caesar. No matter what he tells you, think if he sounds like he trying to influence you or persuade into doing the work that he is too scared to do himself.

I hope that after you read this you think about my points and take them into extreme consideration before you carry out any of your actions. You have to remember that once you act there is no way to reverse what you did. Also watch out for Cassius he may try to act like your friend but in the long run he may turn around an blame everything on you, so just think before you act.

Your Friend,

In the story, Everything That Rises Must Converge; Flannery O'Conner uses a number of devices to make an organized plot. Causality, repetition, and structure all contribute in making the plot interesting.

The exposition consumes the beginning of the story. This is important because it gives the reader a better understanding of the characters, and sets tones for causality. Being introduced first is Julian's mother. Her attitude and actions are best described on page 07. It states, She sat forward and looked up and down the bus. It was half filled. Everybody was white. 'I see we have the bus to ourselves. This allows the reader to assume that Julian's mother is prejudice, and was most likely raised in that time era. A good example O'Conner uses to explain Julian is found on page 08. It states, Most miraculous of all, instead of being blinded by love for her as she was for him, he had cut himself emotionally free of her and could see her with complete objectivity. He was not dominated by his mother. It is safe to assume Julian is a depressed son, who is perturbed with his mother and her old ways of life.

Complications begin to arise after the reader has a good feel on who the characters are, which then leads to the climax of the story. Tension first arrives between Julian and his mother when Julian moves from sitting next to his mother, to a Negro man on the bus. O'Conner uses a good example on page 08, He stared at her, making his eyes the eyes of a stranger. He felt his tension suddenly lift as if he had openly declared war on her. The reader feels the anger building in Julian's mother beginning on page 0. It reads, Her eyes retained their battered look. Her face seemed to be unnaturally red, as if her blood pressure had risen. Complications continue when are third and fourth characters are introduced; a Negro woman and her little son. On page 10 proves this evident, …suddenly she had sickened at some awful confrontation…the woman, in a sense, swapped sons…his mother would not realize the symbolic significance of this, she would feel it…amusement showed plainly on his face. Continuing on, Julian's mother decides to give the little boy some money, which leads the climax of the story. On page 1 Julian's mother, the Negro woman, and her son have confrontation.Oh little boy…here is a bright penny for you…the huge woman turned…her face frozen with frustration and rage, and stared at Julian's mother…a black fist swung with the red pocketbook.

The events of the story take another path as the reader heads towards the resolution. The falling actions are short but effective. Julian tries to explain to his mother why she was just decked. In a smart voice he states on page 1, Don't think that was a uppity Negro woman, that was the whole colored race that will no longer take your condescending pennies. He continues on by trying to prove his point, but unaware that his mother is experiencing something completely different. On page 1 Julian's mother thinks, …trying to determine his identity…found nothing familiar about him, she started in the opposite direction. On page 1 it states, she plowed ahead…her hair coming undone on one side…she dropped her pocketbook and took no notice. The reader can assume that something with Julian's mother is not right and the last words that she says are, Tell Grandpa to come and get me…Tell Caroline to come and get me.

Here it is evident that Julian's mother is dying. The resolution is now final, and Julian is felt feeling guilty at the end of the story. O'Conner ends the story with a strong sentence, The tide of darkness seemed to sweep him back to her, postponing from moment to moment his entry into the world of guilt and sorrow. O'Conner leaves the reader understanding the main point to the story, and reveals the biggest irony of the whole story.

Another element of plot in this story is causality. Causality if important because it shows how one thing effects another. Since Julian's mother was caught up in her old world, this causes Julian to feel angry towards her, which leads him to want to teach her a lesson. Which then lead to his mother's death. Repetition is also very prominent throughout this story. An example is the hat that Julian's mother owns. Not only does the hat have great significance but also it appears continuously throughout the story.

It can be assumed that Flannery O'Conner had an important message that he wanted his readers to pick up on. O'Conner used a mother/son relationship so that readers could relate to the story better. But the main point that is intended is simply; don't judge others until you have judged yourself.

Haste Makes Waste

I have always been an overanxious person, and I used to finish everything hurriedly-until I made a serious mistake in my workplace. Now I am a lot more careful and patient about what I do.

I worked in a Japanese bank in China before I came to America, and my job was dealing with the customers' documents such as contracts. The incident happened at one Friday afternoon five years ago. I did everything very fast like I did every day; moreover, I had an appointment with my friends after work, so I wanted to leave office on time. When I finished all of the work and thought about the appointment, my department manager gave me a contract draft and asked me to type it. He said something to me, but I didn't pay attention to that since I wanted to begin the work at once.I glanced at my watch to know that was 510 and I thought that if I did quickly, I could meet my friends in time. I was too hurried to notice anything on the contract. I finished five-page work just in 0 minutes and I was so proud of my incredible typing speed. Next Monday, when I entered the office, the manager let me go to his office in anger which made me realized that something was wrong. In his office, he threw the contract which I typed last day on the table and yelled at me, ''the bank's reputation is destroyed by you'', then he showed the original copy which had a post-it on it. After reading the notes which said "approved by general manager, type it after his revision", I knew that I didn't follow the direction to make the general manager correct the contract before I typed it. More seriously, he emphasized the notes to me last day, I didn't notice that yet. My manager told me that they had to delay the meeting with the customer because of my fault. I got some serious punishment for it and I also felt ashamed for myself.

Even though I want to achieve my desired goal as fast as I can, I have to admit that haste makes waste. I learned from my disaster that once we do something in a hurry, we may not see the result as we have expected. In other words, we should advance in order and keep patient if we want to get the goal on time.

This is the main setting that allows the two separate dysfunctional families, The Lambs & The Pickles to unite and start a new life at Number One Cloudstreet. The reader acknowledges the Pickles down by the ocean in Geralton where they then move to Perth.

·The only historical character to make an appearance in the text is the Nedlands Monsters, Eric Cooke a serial killer who happened to be the last man to be hanged in WA on October the 6th.The Nedlands monster features in Cloudstreet because he threatens ordinary peoples lives.

Tim Winton constructs the Nedlands monster as a threat to peaces and people's lives. His character is established as dreadful person that society is afraid of.1.

Oriel Lamb doesn't believe in the sentence of The Nedlands monster as she has a biblical context and believes that everyone should be given a fair chance.

· The world events influence the Pickles and Lamb Families. Dolly Pickles character is constructed as selfishness character as she takes advantage of the Catalina Pilot.

·Tim Winton text Cloudstreet explores many different social issues the 0 years spanning throughout the text. Class differences are explored throughout the text. Toby's is an upper class character and his relationship with Rose doesn't work out due to the differences in social class throughout both of the characters.

·Aborignal History, is mentioned throughout the text. Tim Winton uses the "Black Man Character" to explore many cultural and racial differences which have occurred in throughout Australian History. Due to my context I do not understand the extent to which Aboriginal where aliens in Western Australian society, I sympathize with the Aboriginal Characters in the text with such comments as 4

·Due to my context I easily relate to the places mentioned by Tim Winton in Cloudstreet. When Fish Lamb's character goes down to the Swan River to die. I am can easily picture the setting which enables Fish Lamb to join his two halves together.

In conclusion, the historical and social context of Cloudstreet, is very important to meaning of the text and unlocking of the major issues presented in the text. Different people's context will change the meaning and messages of which Tim Winton presents in Cloudstreet.

Most fluids used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food, and biomedical industries can be classified as non-Newtonian, ie, the viscosity varies with shear rate at a given temperature. In contrast, Newtonian fluids such as water, air, and glycerin have constant viscosities at a given temperature. Examples of non-Newtonian fluids include molten polymer, aqueous polymer solutions, slurries, coalwater mixture, tomato ketchup, soup, mayonnaise, purees, suspension of small particles, blood, etc. Because non-Newtonian fluids are nonlinear in nature, these are seldom amenable to analysis by classical mathematical techniques.

The optimum design of process equipment which handles non-Newtonian fluids could be significantly improved once predictive capability were increased. However, the basic understanding of the fluid mechanical and heat-transfer behavior of non-Newtonian, ie, viscous and viscoelastic, fluids is limited (). A better understanding of pressure drop and heat-transfer behavior of non-Newtonian flows applicable to typical heat-exchanger geometries should lead to the design and development of more energy-efficient processes and to better quality control of the final products. In general, the viscosity of a non-Newtonian fluid can be significantly larger than that of water. Therefore, the selection of a pump size to provide enough flow rate and subsequently to ensure adequate heat removal or supply is necessary.

A significant heat-transfer enhancement can be obtained when a noncircular tube is used together with a non-Newtonian fluid. This heat-transfer enhancement is attributed to both the secondary flow at the corner of the noncircular tube (, 4) and to the temperature-dependent non-Newtonian viscosity (5). Using an aqueous solution of polyacrylamide the laminar heat transfer can be increased by about 00% in a rectangular duct over the value of water ().

A knowledge of the viscous and thermal properties of non-Newtonian fluids is essential before the results of the analyses can be used for practical design purposes. Because of the nonlinear nature, the prediction of these properties from kinetic theories is as of this writing in its infancy. For the purpose of design and performance calculations, physical properties of non-Newtonian fluids must be measured.

5.7. Micro-Heat Exchangers

A better understanding of transport phenomena in microchannel heat exchangers appears to be vital to the development of some advanced microelectronic devices. In future designs, heat-exchanger passages are expected to be incorporated into silicon substrates for the purpose of cooling substrate-mounted microelectronic chips. The passage dimensions could be made as small (1 [mu ]m) as those of the chip features, in which case the passage size may be comparable to the mean free path of air molecules pumped through the passages. The spacing between two molecules of gas is on the order of 1 [mgr ]m, whereas that of liquid is on the order of 0.1 [mgr ]m (1).

Further research on convective transport under low Reynolds number, quasicontinuum conditions is needed before the optimal design of such a micro heat exchanger is possible. The cooling heat exchanger is usually thermally linked to a relatively massive substrate. The effects of this linkage need to be explored and accurate methods of predicting the heat-transfer and pressure-drop performance need to be developed.

5.8. Electrohydrodynamic-Based Heat Exchangers

Electrohydrodynamics refers to the coupling of an electric field and a velocity field in a dielectric fluid continuum. Electric-field effects on heat transfer in polar gases generally take place via a modification of the gas velocity and temperature boundary layers. Electric fields in complex flows act to change the character of flow stability. Applications of electrohydrodynamics in convective heat transfer are diverse such as in heating ventilation or air conditioning (HVAC) cooling of electronic equipment applications, space power applications, micromachines, ultrasmall high duty heat exchangers, and noninvasive flow control techniques.

Characterization and influence of electrohydrodynamic secondary flows on convective flows of polar gases is lacking for most simple as well as complex flow geometries. Such investigations should lead to an understanding of flow control, manipulation of separating, and accurate computation of local heat-transfer coefficients in confined, complex geometries. The typical Reynolds number of the bulk flow does not exceed 5000.

5.. Flow-Induced Vibrations.

One of the critical limitations of the increased performance of shell-and-tube heat exchangers is the onset of flow-induced vibrations at high shellside fluid flows that result in a loud acoustic (noise) vibration of more than 150 dB, or the vibration of tubes to the extent that the tube walls are worn through. Whereas a great deal of research has been done to understand vibration excitation mechanisms and to develop design guides, much is unknown about predicting flow-induced vibration occurrence, the location and type of damage, and the rates of wear. There is a substantial dependence on experience with the hardware in service, and this severely limits the development of the next generation of heat exchangers. Elimination or substantial minimization of flow-induced vibrations would have a significant impact in power, process, petroleum (qv), and other industries that use shell-and-tube exchangers.

5.10. Flow Maldistribution

One of the principal reasons for heat exchangers failing to achieve the expected thermal performance is that the fluid flow does not follow the idealized anticipated paths from elementary considerations. This is referred as a flow maldistribution problem. As much as 50% of the fluid can behave differently from what is expected based on a simplistic model (18), resulting in a significant reduction in heat-transfer performance, especially at high Ntu or a significant increase in pressure drop. Flow maldistribution is the main culprit for reduced performance of many heat exchangers.

In addition to the reduction in performance, flow maldistribution may result in increased corrosion, erosion, wear, fouling, fatigue, and material failure, particularly for liquid flows. This problem is even more pronounced for multiphase or phase change flows as compared to single-phase flows. Flow distribution problems exist for almost all types of exchangers and can have a significant impact on energy, environment, material, and cost in most industries.

For gross flow maldistribution in heat exchangers, modeling is available for heat-transfer performance prediction, but no modeling is available for pressure-drop prediction. This is because, in most of the cases, the static pressure distribution is not uniform at the exchanger inlet and outlet faces, and no modeling or computational fluid dynamic analysis is possible without the boundary conditions. Gross flow maldistribution significantly increases pressure drop. In addition, because there are an infinite number of gross flow maldistributions possible, the only approach is to analyze the problem numerically for idealized uniform pressure boundary conditions.

No systematic study is reported to quantify the effect of manifold induced-flow maldistribution on a single-phase pressure drop and heat transfer in a heat exchanger. Such flow maldistribution is common in gas-to-gas and liquid-to-gas exchangers with manifolds, and in a plate heat exchanger in which many parallel passages are connected by inlet and outlet pipe manifolds created by plate ports. For two-phase flow distribution, however, no practical methods exist for ensuring the adequate distribution of the vapor and liquid phases among many parallel-flow channels. The result in the cryogenic gas processing area is, for example, that phases are separated and introduced into separate heat exchangers for further vaporization or condensation at a significant penalty in overall thermodynamic optimization of the system. Viscosity-induced flow maldistribution has been hardly analyzed to quantify the influence on heat transfer and pressure drop. Very meager information is available in the literature on natural convection-induced flow maldistribution and its effect on the exchanger heat transfer and pressure drop. A combination of hot- and cold-fluid maldistributions, both tubeside and shellside, can create a more serious problem than the individual maldistributions alone. Heat exchangers involving multiphase flow appear to have the highest likelihood of flow maldistribution and the resulting thermal and mechanical performance loss and flow instability. This is especially critical where multiphases exist at inlet.

George Orwell's Animal Farm may be a simple novel to read, but it has many lessons that can be learnt. The novel uses a great deal of symbolism in its exploration of communism, human nature and social failure. Orwell symbolizes the Russian Revolution as a small farm. The main question about this allegory is why did the writer use animals as the communists and not ordinary humans? It is because animals are not expected to take over human activities, as they can't even take care of themselves. This is a technique that stresses how the general public, which were the weaker group in the Russian Revolution, rebel and overthrow the people in power. In this case the animals of Animal Farm evict their human owner and take control.

In this novel, Orwell stresses how the use and abuse of power could be a lesson to be learnt. The pigs take most of the power in Animal Farm, without realizing that it can lead towards corruption if misused. The changing of the commandments is one of the main types of corruption in this novel. The commandment suddenly started changing. "It says, 'No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets' she announced finally. Curiously enough, Clover had not remembered the Fourth Commandment mention sheets…"1. This shows that those in power were the ones changing the commandments to suit themselves. Once politics and human nature meet, the result is almost always negative as people start to disobey the rules out of greed.

We also learn about the power of education in this novel. Education is a key factor in the novel or else the commandments would never be written, deals would never had been made with the human beings and so on. "The reading and writing classes, however were a great success. By the autumn almost every animal on the farm was literate in some degree." this stresses how important it was for all the animals to be literate.

Exploitation is a key factor when the "elite" class takes over the farm (pigs). The pigs had always made use of Boxer's contribution and also the others. The food that was produced was always given to the pigs. "The mystery of where the milk went to was soon cleared up. It was mixed everyday with the pigs mash". This reveals how inequality began to show the corruption had started.

The use of propaganda in the novel is evident by Squealer's use of persuasive language. Squealer is a very good speaker only this allowed the animals, especially Boxer, to stay true and loyal to Napoleon. "'Comrades,' he said. 'I trust that every animal here appreciates the sacrifice that Comrade Napoleon has made in taking this extra labour upon himself. Do not imagine, comrades, that leadership is a pleasure!'"5. This is an example of Squealer's excellent use of persuasive language that convinces the animals of the farm to accept Napoleon as their leader.

Unity is one of the minorities of good lessons that people may consider in this novel. The animals had fought two big battles against the humans, in which they won both. They completed the windmill (excluding the pigs), which is also a great accomplishment. Even though most of the unity came in the beginning of the novel Animal Farm, it should be considered as an early climax of the story. If it weren't for all the animals uniting, Jones would still be torturing the animals at Manor Farm. One thing that showed unity and love for each other was the song, Beasts of England, which the animals sang everyday. "After the hoisting of the flag all the animals trooped into the big barn for a general assembly which was known as the Meeting".6 This shows the strength of unity and understanding that the animals have between them.

"The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again but already it was impossible to say which was which."4 This shows how power can change the characteristics of living things in a short time. The pigs had been influenced to walk on two legs, play cards and drink beer by the humans. Most of the fundamental decencies that humans own had been transferred to the pigs. As Orwell points out, though, the great irony is that they also developed the evil side of human nature, which, in spite of everything, inevitably showed itself as stronger.

William Jefferson Clinton, commonly known as Bill Clinton, was born in 146 and was the 46th president of the United States from 1-00. He graduated from Georgetown University, attended Oxford University and received a law degree from Yale University. His profession as a lawyer led to his political career.

In 174, Clinton became a Democratic leader in the U.S. House of Representatives, but was not very successful. In 176 he was elected Arkansas's attorney general, and also won the Arkansas governorship, making him the youngest governor at that time. He was known as a moderate Democrat and in 10 to 11 he headed the centrist Democratic Leadership Council. The next year, he won the presidential nomination. He ran in the election with Al Gore. Together they gained 4% of the national vote.

When in office, Clinton did many positive things for his country. One of his greatest accomplishments was helping many students get through college. In 1 he proposed and enacted the HOPE Scholarships, which were claimed by an about 10 million American would could not pay for college. The HOPE Scholarships helped make the first two years of college available by providing a tax credit of up to $1,500 for tuition and fees for the first two years of college. In general, the Clinton administration helped education everywhere.

Another worthy contribution Clinton made while in office was improving foreign policy. He Stabilized Southeast Europe by ending a decade of repression and ethnic cleansing in Kosovo through leading NATO alliance to victory in air campaign and ushering in international peacekeepers, and by launching the Stability Pact to strengthen democracy, economic development and security throughout the region and accelerating its integration with the rest of Europe.

However, as everyone knows, Clinton had quite the personal scandal while in office. This made some people believe that his personal life would reflect his work and that he wasn't worthy or very "moral" enough to be the president. Although maybe he wasn't such a great guy, he was a good leader. On a scale on 1 to 5(5 being the highest), I would rate Bill a .5. Personally, I think that his private life is his business and it didn't impair his judgments as our president.

If there's one thing I don't look forward to, it's hauling square bales of hay. I

will tell you the good and bad things about hay hauling.

I start out hooking up the black dodge to the dark blue, thirty foot trailer.I pull it

to the field where I see hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of golden square bales of

hay.I hook the red hay loader up to the trailer and start loading.Gavin drives along the

side of a row of hay as the loader grabs it with sharp metal teeth that are hooked on to a

chain that turns with the wheels. As its shoots the bales up to me I stack them in specific

order so when the trailer is full, strapping the hay down won't be necessary. When I get

about sixty or seventy bales on the trailer I start to work up a pretty good sweat.I grab

the bales of hay from the loader above me and hay falls all over me sticking to my wet

body. I start itching so I brush the hay off the best I can but it does no good after I grab

another bale. The strings are rubbing the creases in my fingers raw.It starts to sting as

the sweat runs into the cracks of my fingers. With all of that I'm trying to move as fast as

I can and suddenly something sticks in me and sends a sharp pain through my body.I

look down to find a sand bur stuck deep in my finger.By this time I'm needing a drink

so badly that the saliva in my mouth is getting sticky on my lips.As loose hay blows all

over me it sticks to my lips like a magnet.

The floor of the trailer is now well covered with hay.I walk at a quick pace

on it trying to keep up with the loader and I step in a crack between two bales and feel my

foot go all the way to the floor of the trailer. When I get back on my feet I stack the bale

I had in my hands and start to get caught up and a bale gets hung in the loader along with

two others. So I climb down the scorching hot ladder to turn the bale of hay my hands

are burning from holding on to the metal steps. When I get back on the trailer Donny

is griping at me because I am three bales behind.I stack the hay as fast as I can and my

arms start getting cramps in them because my muscles don't have a chance to relax.By

now the trailer is almost full so we stop to take a break before we go unload.I head

straight for the water cooler and I drink the ice cold water so fast it gives me brain freeze.

We are at the barn now ready to unload.Gavin and I stack as Donny throws the

hay off the trailer to us.It is completely miserable because there is no breeze inside the

barn and the dust is being stirred from the bales being thrown. Now it is hard to breathe

and as my eye's start to itch I start sneezing too. After we are finished I go home to take

a cold shower.

Hauling hay is a hard, miserable and frustrating job, but after we finish I am

proud of myself because of how hard I worked.

Photographs are a lot like art because when you take a picture it can take on a totally different meaning.I may interpret a photo or a piece of art differently then someone else.

There is a picture that I have seen when Bill Clinton was President. The President is walking his dog and holding hands with his daughter and wife.I would interpret that the President is trying to be like the rest of the world in that he is a family man who likes animals. In the picture you can not see their faces so you can only conclude that they are having a nice walk. The picture is the way the photographer wanted that scene captured. That is how an artist is because they paint their view on something or the way they see it.

In all reality we know that Bill Clinton was an adulteress and so the picture is not so much real to me.It is hard to believe that this is a true setting.I do not see him as a family man at all after having the affair.

The World Trade center bombings were another tragic event in my time.We have seen plenty of pictures on this event. We have seen pictures of people at ground zero where their faces are covered with dust and every one looks the same. There are no black and white people. The picture symbolizes what America should be like.In art we see the same thing used.Artist uses things to symbolize what they think should be real.

There is this art picture by Werner Horvath that has President Bush real big with lots of colors, mostly red, around him.In the bottom left corner is the World Trade Centers just as the plane was going into one of them. The bottom right corner is where the whole city is up in smoke.Pictures are like this because in technology today we can create any image that we want to.We can put two or three pictures together and make the picture more realistic.

I think that photographers have a great advantage. They can take a hundred pictures of the same thing. Then they can pick just one picture and it may look like a totally different event.Artists are the same way, because an artist can paint their view of something and that is the way it mostly comes off to the people. There again I may view something entirely different then someone else does.
